Central Maine Hoops AAU
The spring of 2016 looks to be an exciting time for basketball players in central Maine as enhanced programming through Central Maine Hoops and the Gilman Street Basketball Club is sure to provide the best AAU off-season basketball experience in the entire central Maine area.
Creating basketball opportunities for players of All ability levels where Sportsmanship and Player Development are the focus, Central Maine Hoops believes basketball can teach many of life’s lessons on the court, if character and fair play are always part of the process. With this philosophy firmly in mind, Central Maine Hoops, a subsidiary of the Gilman Street Basketball Club and Maine Hoops, offers programming for girls and boys in grade 4 through high school. Through scheduled skills clinics focused on shooting, ball handling, passing, and increasing basketball knowledge and understanding, through scheduled practices, and through playing games in a circuit of regional AAU tournaments, Central Maine Hoops’ 10-week program is the perfect blend of practice and game play designed to bring every player to the next level in their basketball ability.
Club placement workout dates and times are listed below. The workouts are an opportunity for club officials and coaches to evaluate skills and for parents to learn about the program. All players seeking to join a team should plan to make one of the sessions and be prepared to participate in a basketball skills workout (a $10 fee is assessed for the skills workout session).

Central Maine Hoops seeks coaches who might also be parents, notice, the emphasis is on coaches who are parents as opposed to parents who want to coach. We have gone back and forth over the years and find the teams that have the most success are those with a parent who is vested in the team but also has a solid basketball background.
